In the shadow of the ongoing Iron Swords War in Israel, the Israeli Defense Forces Northern Command Band has just released this arrangement and re-production of the song, The Kingdom of Hermon, fifty-six years after the song's original release. The song, The Kingdom of Hermon, sung in this video by active Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) troops in the IDF Northern Command Band, expresses a message of strong defense of Israel from Israel's highest peak, Mount Hermon, which overlooks the entire north of Israel, just like the landscape described in the song.
For historical reference and background, the Israeli Defense Forces captured part of Mount Hermon during the 1967 Six Day War in Israel, about a year before the song, The Kingdom of Hermon, was released. However, the entirety of Mount Hermon was captured by the Israeli Defense Forces just five years later, during the 1973 Yom Kippur War in Israel, and remains to this day Israeli territory.
Israel enjoys winter time mountaintop snow on top of its very own Mount Hermon.
The 1967 song The Kingdom of Hermon was written by Youvev Katz and composed by Efi Netzer. The song The Kingdom of Hermon is sung in a new 2024 arrangement and orchestration by Israeli Defense Forces troops in the first video above.
